Sierra Pacific Synod congregations can apply for emergency grants for natural disaster preparedness and response or urgent immigration needs, including legal aid.
Requests typically range from $500 to $3,500. Funds go only to congregations or affiliated 501(c)(3) nonprofits. We aim to decide within a month. For urgent requests, email resilience@spselca.org.
We understand that disaster funds are needed quickly. While we cannot guarantee grants would be paid in less than a month, we will do our best to get speedy approval, while honoring our fiduciary responsibilities and financial transparency. To follow up on expenditures and your wellbeing, we require a simple follow up call or email from our Disaster Preparedness Community Organizers six months after the grant is disbursed. Beyond that, we won’t ask for a burdensome formal report, given the nature of emergencies.
If you would prefer to fill this application out over the phone with a Disaster Preparedness Community Organizer, we are happy to type in information for you, just email us to set up a call. Email our Disaster Preparedness Community Organizers at resilience@spselca.org
