Christ is Risen! Christ is risen indeed! The
same words that called us together on Easter morning, call us
together again as they open the cover letter from Bishop
Holmerud for this year's downloadable "packet" of materials
for the 2009 Sierra Pacific Synod Assembly, available on our
synod website.
SPS
Synod We're excited about this year's
assembly! We have a full agenda with some time for
learning, laughing, celebrating and discernment. This
year we are "in the valley" and special care has been
taken to reflect the amazing diversity of people and cultures
that live and work and worship in this area.
Our Keynote speakers are The Rev. John
Rutsindintwarne, General Secretary, Lutheran Church of Rwanda
and The Rev. Walt Parry, Executive Director, Fresno Metro
Ministry. Our Bible Study Leader is The Rev. April
Ulring Larson, Bishop Emeritus, La Crosse Area Synod,
E.L.C.A. Take some time to look at the
information on the website. If you are a voting member,
you'll need those materials, so download and print them (and
then remember to bring them!). If you're not a voting
member, take a look anyway. This isn't about "those
synod people and programs over there". This is about us,
-- all of us, each of us -- and our ministries ... here,
over there, and even farther than over there. All
because we have heard the words we are also moved to
share: Christ is risen! Risen indeed!
Alleluia!
