STUDENTS ATTENDING COLLEGE?

Lutheran Campus Ministry is a Lutheran Ministry on Campus, not just a ministry to Lutherans. It provides an ELCA presence at more than 180 state and private colleges and universities, with cooperating congregations in campus ministry at an additional 400 campuses nationwide. If your congregation has students going to college this fall, please refer a student, find a ministry, or contact campus ministry staff.

Did you know that our Synod has eight Campus Ministry organizations? They are:

UC Berkeley, Lutheran Campus Ministry at University Lutheran Chapel. Send info to Pastor Jeff Johnson and pass on the Chapel website to your students.

UC Davis, Lutheran Episcopal Campus Ministry at the Belfry. Send info to Pastor Jocelyn Jerkovich-Hughes and pass on the Belfry website to your students.

Fresno Lutheran Campus Ministry. Send info to Pastor Don Romsa and pass on the LCM website to your students.
Monterey Bay and Santa Cruz Lutheran Campus Ministries. At present we do not have a working website for these ministries.  Contact the local churches for information.

Sacramento Area Lutheran Campus Ministry. Direct your students to the website to find information for their specific campus.

San José Lutheran Campus Ministry at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Send info to Pastor C. Lynn Bailey and pass on the website to your students.

Stanford University, Episcopal Lutheran Campus Ministry at University Church. Send info to Pastor Greg Schaefer and pass on the ELCM website to your students.

ELCA SEMINARS OFFERED

Richard Bruesehoff, ELCA Director for Lifelong Learniing, invites you to consider participating in the following Seminars:

The Head of Staff Seminar
, February 4-7, 2010, has been well received by those newly called as senior/head of staff pastors.  The focus is on the role that the head of staff plays in visionary leadership of a congregation and guiding the development of a congregational staff team.  The evaluations from each year suggest that the content of the seminar, the informal conversations with colleagues, the worship and the very setting itself are shaping these head-of-staff pastors for their unique ministries.

The Ministry Staff Seminar, January 30-February 2, 2010, is designed for those who serve in staff settings:  Associates in Ministry, Diaconal Ministers, Assistant and Associate pastors, music directors, youth and family ministers, parish nurses, etc.  The focus of this event is to explore the unique challenges and opportunities of serving on a ministry staff.  This is one of the few places where attention is given to the development of what might be called "career associates"--those who feel called to serve as members of a large staff.

The Transition Seminar, February 2-3, 2010, is offered between the Head of Staff and Ministry Staff Seminars to those persons who have recently moved from one ministry setting to another.

Register on line by visiting the Leadership Support Events  website at www.elca.org/leadership/events/ where you will find more  information about the events and links to a page for more information, including a detailed schedule and registration.  If you have questions, contact Richard Bruesehoff.

LAMP MINISTRY RESOURCES

LAMP--the Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots--is pleased to offer two exciting new resources:

The Harvest - LAMP Devotions was written for LAMP by Rev. Michael R. Ruhl, Executive Director at the Center for United States Missions.  This 39-page, easy-to-print booklet contains seven days of devotions about missions.  It's an ideal tool for mission teams and prayer partners.  To download The Harvest, go to Lamp Ministry.  A limited number of printed copies are available for mailing.  Click here to request more information.

Fueling the Mission is a unique program, designed to foster children's interest in mission work.  It offers them the opportunity to learn about and support LAMP's work in remote areas of northern Canada.  The materials are suitable for children in Sunday Schools, Christian Day Schools, Vacation Bible Schools, and home schools.  To download Fueling the Mission, log on to www.lampministry.org/Fueling.

NEW CALL PROCESS FORMS

Recently the ELCA changed its website and replaced the Congregation Profile with the Ministry Site Profile (MSP), and the Availability for Call form with the Rostered Leader Profile (RLP).  These new forms are designed to help ministry sites find the rostered leaders they seek and help the rostered leaders find new ministries to serve.  Learn more here.
