This week we have witnessed history in the making as our
44th President was sworn into office. His oath ended
with the words: "So help me God" and we moved into a new
chapter in the life of our country. We pray God's
blessing and help for all who are involved in this
transition. It is an exciting time. It is
an exciting time for us here in the Sierra Pacific Synod, as
well, as we count on God's blessing and help in this time of
transition. I'd like to call special attention
to two things: First, our new website: SPS Website
It is a work in progress, so check it often.
Second, please take some time to read the
Transition Documents that are attached to the
newsletter. Included are a letter from me explaining the
process, a description of the transition teams and their
tasks, and a nomination/application form.
TWO THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:
1) We expect and hope these
transition teams will include a number of talented lay
people. Please don't be shy.
2) Only names coming to us via the
form will be considered for service on the
teams.
Thank you for your interest in our synod, your
support and willingness to serve! Basking in the
light, Pr. Nancy Feniuk Nelson Transition

We remember in prayer . . .
Bishop Holmerud and the people of the Lutheran
Church in Rwanda. Bp. Holmerud is in Rwanda this week to
celebrate the dedication of the first wing of the Rwanda
Lutheran School, a joint ministry of the Sierra Pacific Synod
and the Lutheran Church of Rwanda.
President
Obama, his family, cabinet, and advisers as
they begin to serve our country in this new chapter of our
life together.
President Bush and his family as they, too, begin a new
chapter in their lives.
For all the members of the Sierrra Pacific Synod as they
consider the possibility of serving on the transition
team.
