About the Chrism Mass

The celebration traditionally called the "Chrism Mass" is a service held each year in our synod the Monday morning of Holy Week. This is an expression of the unity of the church in the bishop's jurisdiction.The Bishop celebrates the Eucharist with his or her pastors, Associates in Ministry, deaconnesses, and diaconal ministers, leading them in a renewal of ordination/commissioning vows. Also, oils used for baptism and annointing are blessed during the service and made available to the clergy present for use in congregations and ministries throughout the synod.
