Longtime CLU supporter receives Christus Award

 

California Lutheran University bestowed the Christus Award upon one of its earliest and most faithful supporters during Founders Day Convocation on Friday, Oct. 19.

The Rev. Lauren “Bud” Egdahl of Lafayette received the award, which is presented to those who have done an outstanding job of building a bridge between the university and the church, during a 10 a.m. ceremony in Samuelson Chapel.

Pr. Egdahl has been a member of the California Lutheran Educational Foundation (CLEF) since its was formed in 1957 to promote the development of the university, which was founded two years later. He has also belonged to the Convocation, the group of Lutheran church leaders who elect CLU’s Board of Regents, since its inception. He served as chair of the group for two years.

A retired parish pastor, Egdahl now serves as the Stewardship Specialist for the congregations of the Sierra Pacific Synod.

 

 

 

Pr Lauren "Bud" Egdahl

The Rev. Lauren I. (Bud) Edgahl has served the synod as shared staff with the Division for Congregational Ministries since his retirement in 1992 as Senior Pastor of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Lafeyette, California.

Pastor Edgahl assists congregations and the synod in the area of Stewardship. He is available to comduct the Consecration Sunday program in congregations and well as providing resources and training for congregational stewardship committees.

He writes a monthly column on Stewardship in the Praxis newsletter and also shares a "Bud's Bit " for the weekly email Byte of Synod. (Subscribe to the weekly Byte by subscribing at Byte of Synod )
