The Witness and Service discipling team seeks proposals from congregations for the funding of ministries, programs, events or projects designed to address the needs of those in our communities with less resources in the areas of economics, education, transportation, etc.

The discipling team offers this opportunity to individuals, congregations, or other interest groups comprising the Sierra Pacific Synod…with a budgeted amount of funds to allocate. Past grants have typically ranged from $100 - $1500.  Resources and assistance in identifying technical support, other funding sources, or possibilities for collaboration or in-kind support are also available.

The Witness & Service team views “witness” and “service” according to these passages from scripture: Matthew 28:19-20; Matthew 25:35-36, 40b; Luke 4: 17b-21; Leviticus 19:33-34; Micah 6:8. Projects and programs should show consistency with this overall vision to qualify for support.  In addition, priority will be given to proposals meeting the criteria of:

  • Urgent Need
  • High Quality Impact
  • Support Significance
  • Demonstrated Capacity
  • Evaluation.

Please refer to the Application for Funding Support for specifics.
